Updated 2023

Excited to add some new energy to the mix, Glint Solar presents Are and Rémi - our latest intern duo! These two bring a unique perspective and an unwavering passion for green energy. Let's dive into our Q&A session with them, where we'll get to know both the serious and fun sides of these fantastic additions to the team. Welcome aboard, Are and Rémi!

Meet Are!

We're excited to have Are return as a Business Development Intern after his exciting exchange experience in Tokyo! At 22, he's nearing the end of his bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration at NHH and balancing that with remote work for Glint Solar in Bergen. Hailing from Verdal, Norway, Are has a passion for the great outdoors, from swimming in his youth to hiking, skiing, and relishing fresh air today. He has an adventurous spirit, with a dream to travel and discover Central and South America through backpacking or a camper-van. When he's not busy, Are adds a twist to his pizza with his favorite topping of pineapple and favors Pepsi Max over Coca Cola. We're thrilled to have Are back on board and can't wait to see what he'll bring to the team. Are’s responsibilities at Glint Solar includes assisting Norwegian customers looking for the good sites.

What made you want to join Glint Solar?

I was drawn to them for several reasons: I'm interested in the intersection of innovation and technology, passionate about renewable energy and their vision aligns with my beliefs. After being introduced to the company in business school, I saw an opportunity to learn from a skilled team in a field I was interested in and put my studies into practice. Plus, I'm pursuing a Masters in Energy, Natural Resources, and the Environment at NHH and Glint Solar is a perfect fit.

What is something unique or interesting that you’ve learned on the job so far?

When researching the solar market, I was impressed by its expected growth compared to other energy resources in the coming decades. I was also amazed at the length of time it takes to finalize a solar park, and how Glint Solar’s products will greatly enhance the process. I was surprised to learn that solar panels are most efficient at low temperatures, making solar installation relevant even in cold and freezing Norway.

What’s one thing you wish people knew about solar energy?

Prices on solar are dropping and it is basically the fastest growing energy resource right now - and that it’s also highly relevant in Norway!

What would you like to be an expert in overnight?

How to combine farming and solar, also called Agrivoltaics. We have a world population expected to grow by 1.2 billion people within 15 years, meaning that there will be many more mouths to feed. However, the world is also witnessing an electricity demand that’s growing even faster than population growth. Agrivoltaics is a very promising concept that has the potential to kill two birds with one stone: helping our food supply and transitioning us to a cleaner energy source.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

Last summer, I sailed across the Philippine Sea on a Norwegian Sailing vessel called Statsraad Lehmkuhl chasing a typhoon in order to get to our destination.

If you could be a character in any book, movie or TV show, who would you be and why?

As a kid I used to watch Man vs. Wild by Bear Grylls. He is maybe not a fictional character, but a born survivor and a person I look up to. No matter the physical challenge or extreme situation he faced, he managed to find a way to navigate home safely through his knowledge of nature, persistence and motivation.

Meet Rémi!

Rémi’s joining us in France as a Business Development Intern. He is a well-traveled individual with a diverse international background. Having lived in Germany, France, and the United States, Rémi brings a unique perspective to the table. Currently, he's completing his bachelor's in Finance and Accounting at Grenoble Ecole de management. An avid skier and lover of all things mountain-related, Rémi is taking a break from the slopes this winter due to a knee injury. Instead, he's focusing on expanding his knowledge in renewable energy sources and delving into the world of electronic music. From Grenoble, France, Rémi helps guide Glint Solar's expansion in the country by helping French customers find prime solar project sites, driving growth and solidifying the company's foundation in the French market.

What made you want to join Glint Solar?

I have been fortunate to spend lots of time outdoors growing up, hiking around the mountains and the coast of France. The growing amount of unusual and large-scale environmental events that I have witnessed in recent years made me think about what kind of impact I want to have. The startup environment also intrigued me. I liked the idea to be part of a smaller structure where your actions matter more, surrounded by bright individuals from around the world. I heard about this opportunity from an Alumnus, met some of the other employees, and decided to go for it!

What is something unique or interesting that you’ve learned on the job so far?

France is home to the world’s first agrivoltaics installation, in Tresserre, in the south of the country.

What’s one thing you wish people knew about solar energy?

The durability of solar panels. New ones last up to 30 years!

What would you like to be an expert in overnight?

It would be solar, specifically agrivoltaics! While I have learned a lot since I started working with Glint Solar, it is a complex and rapidly evolving technology, and I am not an expert yet.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?

I have a brother who was born on the same day as me, but six years later.

If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

It would be Neil Armstrong. Being the first human to see our planet from the moon must have been a unbelieve experience… Especially knowing the technological feat that it was for the time.
